Actor-producer Arbaaz Khan is once again winning hearts with his latest talk show, The Invincibles. After inviting his father and writer Salim Khan followed by Javed Akhtar, in the third episode of the series, his step-mom and veteran actress Helen appeared in the show. In a brief conversation with Arbaaz Khan, Helen opened up on various aspects of her personal and professional life. While recalling the early days of her career, the actress also revealed that Salim Khan had once complained about her “snooty” behaviour and he was told that she treats everyone like furniture.

Candidly, Helen said, “I was doing a film with Ajit saab, where I was the heroine. And the villain was Mr Salim Khan. This was way before Teesri Manzil.” She was probably talking about the 1963 film Kabli Khan. When Arbaaz asked if she noticed Salim Khan at that time, Helen explained, “It wasn’t like I was too big a star or anything like that, but I kept to myself. One day, he asked Ajit saab, ‘Yeh madam kisi ko dekhti bhi nahi, wish bhi nahi karti (This woman doesn’t acknowledge anybody around her).’ And Ajit said, ‘Poocho mat, yeh sab logon ko furniture ke jaise dekhti hain’ (Don’t ask, she treats everyone like furniture).”
Several years later, the duo met again on the sets of Teesri Manzil. By that time, Helen was already a star, whereas Salim was still a ‘struggling actor’. Speaking of their equation, the veteran actress added, “He had a good supporting role, but his scene was shot when I wasn’t even on set. When I saw the song, I saw him there. He was looking very good.”
Speaking of Salim Khan, when he appeared on the show, he had also talked about his love story with Helen. He had said, “She (Helen) was young, I was also young. Mera aisa koi iraada nahi tha. Maine sirf madad kiya tha. She started respecting my gesture and attitude. I always say that love is rooted in respect. You cannot love anybody who doesn’t respect you.”
