2024 has been a mixed year for Hindi cinema. With a handful of hits at the box office, overall the year saw the majority of average-grossers that failed to make a mark. Diwali releases like Singham Again and and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 offered some respite to the audience. Fighter and Stree 2 were two of the few films that made some significant impact.

1. ‘Savi A Bloody Housewife’
Made on a handsome budget of INR 375 crore, Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff starrer Bade Miyan Chote Miyan failed to earn even 50% of its total budget. The revival of the 1998 movie fueled the viewers with a lot of expectations but failed to deliver miserably.
The movie, touting to be a high-octane action movie, was just reduced to action sequences bombarded with all types of bomb blasts.
3. ‘The Buckingham Murders’
Kareena Kapoor Khan’sThe Buckingham Murdersbuilt up a lot of hype before it hit the big screens and eventually OTT. According to reports, the movie earned a measly INR 15 crore in its theatrical run.
Made on a budget of approximately INR 40 crore, its box office collection failed to reach even 50%. The crime thriller features Kareena in the lead who plays the role of a cop and a grieving mother who has recently lost her child.
4. ‘Ulajh’
Janhvi Kapoor’s Ulajhis also one of the Bollywood films released in 2024 that performed disastrously. The spy thriller features Kapoor as a young IFS officer belonging to an illustrious family of diplomats.
Released in August 2024, the movie did not even earn INR 10 crore at the box office. Many reviews of Ulajhsaid that it was gripping in bits and pieces but its plot often fell flat.
5. ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’
Do Aur Do Pyaar, starring Vidya Balan, Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D’Cruz and Sendhil Ramamurthy, earned less than INR 5 crore at the box office. The movie received both positive and negative reviews. The performances of lead actors like Gandhi and Balan were well received.
The plot follows Ani and Kavya and their dilapidated love life that, one day, gets rekindled. Following one night of passionate intimacy, they are forced to sort out their love affairs.
6. ‘Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2’
Some movies must never have second parts. Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 was one of them. Starring Mouni Roy, Uorfi, Abhinav Singh and others, Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2earned around INR 50 lakhs, marking a disappointing performance. The movie explores complexities of love, friendship, and identity in a high-tech age.
7. ‘Main Atal Hoon’
Pankaj Tripathi’sMain Atal Hoon released right at the beginning of 2024. The actor impressively molded himself into the persona of the ex-Prime Minister. However, with an earning of around INR 8 crore, the biopic landed on the list of Bollywood blunders of 2024. Even Pankaj Tripathi’s titular role could not elevate the film.
