It was a box office of over Rs 15 crores on Friday as there were three big films in the play. While Pathaan was continuing its run into the fourth week, there was one major film each from Bollywood and Hollywood, what with Shehzada and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania clashing with each other. Together, these three films contributed around Rs 17.50 crores, hence keeping the business going to an extent at theatres.
Let’s talk about Shehzada first. The film was first supposed to release last week but with Pathaan doing blockbuster business, it made the right decision to move ahead to this Friday. It’s a different matter that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was there for competition which turned out to be equally powerful, and hence the collections of the Kartik Aaryan starrer came to Rs. 6 crores. There is good entertainment quotient attached to the film and now it all boils down to this translating into positive word of mouth as well and footfalls to go up today and tomorrow.
Meanwhile Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania saw Rs 8.25 crores* coming in which is a good number for the film. Both this as well as Shehzada would have comfortably taken a double digit opening if not for the clash, though its collections can be still considered good enough since the best case scenario would have been Rs 11-12 crores start which it should be able to cover over a period of time. This isn’t one of the more popularly superheroes from the Marvel world so whatever this film is collecting in India is an added bonus.
As for Pathaan, it is now enjoying its time out in theatres and making good progress towards the Rs 511 crores lifetime total of the Hindi version of Baahubali: The Conclusion. That should happen today itself since the Shah Rukh Kham starrer has now reached Rs 508.10 crores after Friday collections stood at Rs 2.25 crores. There should be a good jump in collections today and that would take it past the SS Rajamouli biggie. That would be the sum total of all languages though and just in the Hindi version too, which is 17.75 crores behind, the gap should be covered in a matter of a couple of weeks at maximum.
