Priyanka Chopra Jonas and her mother Madhu Chopra always had each other’s back from the very start of Priyanka’s career. In a recent interview, Madhu Chopra discusses the initial years of Priyanka’s career in the film industry.

Following her victory as Miss World 2000, Priyanka Chopra entered the film industry and made her acting debut in the Tamil film Thamizhan in 2002. This was followed by her debut in Bollywood, The Hero: Love Story of a Spy in 2003. Since both Priyanka and her mother were newcomers to Bombay and had no prior experience in the film industry. Madhu remembered attending all of Priyanka’s meetings and narrations with her. She also discussed the reasons for Priyanka’s film failures.

Madhu told Josh Talks Asha, “Both, she (Priyanka) and I were new to the film industry and the beauty industry. So, it was like one blind man leading another blind man. I had studied law and knew finance. So, I used to oversee her legal matter though she had good lawyers. I also overlooked her finances because I had knowledge. I had to be with her everywhere, be it narrations or meetings.”

Revealing why Priyanka lost many films, Madhu said, “One day we decided that she will not have any meetings, she will not go out anywhere, she will not fraternize after 7-7.30 in the evening. She stood firm on this decision. Aur fir kya karegi, kya nahi karegi, tehzeeb-tameez ke dayare ke andar, vo usne nahi kiye (she did not do what she was not comfortable with)… She lost many films because she refused to do some scenes which she thought are not worth it.”

The mother-daughter duo supported and empowered each other. Madhu said, “I gave her my hand and she gave me her hand. When she was shooting for Dostana in Florida, it was a two-month shoot, so I did my courses in cosmetology. I came back to India with certification. That is when Priyanka insisted on me opening a cosmetology clinic in Mumbai. She said everybody needs it.”

Priyanka Chopra Jonas is currently keeping busy with the promotions of her series Citadel along with Richard Madden. Last night, the actress gave her fans yet another great news announcing that she is soon going to share screen space with Idris Elba and John Cena in Heads Of State.
