Sadhana instantly ruled everyone’s heart with her debut film, Love In Simla in 1960. However, it was her look that became a hit, but not many know that it was suggested by her husband, RK Nayyar, who was the director of the film. During an interview with the Hindustan Times, RK Nayyar, who had met Sadhana for the first time while shooting for the film, said that she was the perfect choice for it.

However, RK Nayyar only had one problem, he wanted to hide her forehead, so he tried different wigs and hairstyles, and later he thought to try an Audrey Hepburn-like fringe. But Sadhana was a bit sceptical. She feared how an Indian girl can carry off a fringe. RK Nayyar was quoted as saying:

“Sadhana made a perfect Jane but for her forehead. I wondered how to hide it. We experimented with different hairstyles and wigs, but nothing looked right. Finally, I then decided to try an Audrey Hepburn-like fringe. “How can an Indian girl carry off a fringe?” Sadhana asked.”

RK Nayyar further added that years later when on the sets of Mere Mehboob in a simple plait and a centre parting, her director, HH Rwail had asked her what had happened to the Sadhana fringe. He revealed that people were spending money to see Sadhana with her fringe.

Well, that’s how Sadhana’s famous fringe hairstyle became a hit in India, even after so many years!
