Family Star, despite its promising setup and strong performances, ultimately falters due to its unengaging screenplay and lack of emotional depth in key relationships. While the lead actors deliver commendable performances, the film’s narrative fails to maintain the momentum, particularly in the second half. Nevertheless, the movie showcases moments of humour and charm, alongside decent technical aspects. For fans of the cast and family dramas, it may offer some appeal, but others might find it lacking in the engaging storytelling expected of a cinematic experience.

On the whole, The Family Star entertains to a certain extent. Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur deliver fine performances. However, the film’s slow-paced screenplay, lack of emotional depth, ineffective background score, and weak storyline are the notable drawbacks. If you can overlook these aspects, it may still be worth a watch this weekend.

Overall, barring the performances of a few cast members and production values, there is nothing that this Family Star offers. The outdated story, lack of emotional connection, and sluggish screenplay become a bigger burden than a heavy EMI for the Family Star.

Overall, despite Vijay Deverakonda’s credible performance and pleasant interval bang, “Family Star” suffers from a slow-paced narration, a lack of emotional depth and lack of entertainment. If this film had been made in a concise style and featured comedy, it would have been a decent watch. Or else it would have been elaborated to make it as a TV serial. At the end of this 2 hour 45 minute ride, it provides little entertainment and more dullness.

Overall, ‘Family Star’ has a passable first half but suffers greatly due to the director’s lack of clarity on the story and the dead weak conflicts he tried to build the drama on.

Family Star does no justice to the family quotient or the star material. It is an interesting idea to raise a toast to the star of every middle-class family but that idea is lost in a film that gets progressively boring and tests your patience. The family audience deserve better.
