Ranbir Kapoor spoke in detail about his religious beliefs, saying how his relationship with God has a lot to do with gratitude. He said that his father, Rishi Kapoor, was a devout and pious man. Due to his father, he grew up in a religious and spiritual environment in which he saw regular pujas, chanting, festival celebrations, etc.

Ranbir said, “So when I grew up, my father (Rishi Kapoor) was extremely pious. He used to do two pujas a day. We celebrate every festival, we have Navratas at home, so God was a very big thing for me growing up. I think it gave a lot of peace to my father; my mother (Neetu Kapoor) was less religious. So, I have a good feeling about God.”

He also said that he never asks anything from God and that he will always be grateful for everything in his life.

He added, “Even when I’m in trouble, when I’ve been like, my mother’s fighting with me, and I don’t have another conflicted conversation with her, where she’s going to cry and stuff like that. Or I want a film to succeed, or I want to buy something. I’ve never asked for that. So my relationship with God is a lot of gratitude. And you know, I feel very, very grateful for the place I’m in, of everything that I have. And so that kind of sums up my relationship with God.”

And see, you believe it or you don’t believe it. If you believe it, it is like hope. It is like giving yourself a good system, good values. I think there is something good about it. I feel connected.”

Apart from his religious beliefs, Ranbir also spoke openly about his relationship with Alia Bhatt. He spoke about how they met when she was nine and he was 20. They met for a photoshoot for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie on child marriage.

He also went into detail about how she changed more than him. He said she has changed her personality to ease his insecurities that stem from his father.

Ranbir said, “She has really made an effort, and I must acknowledge that everything that I complained about and she complained about, but I think she has made better efforts than I have,” he stressed. Ranbir admitted that Alia has changed more for him than he has for her. “I am acknowledging it, but I should do something about it. I should change a bit.”

He added, “She used to speak in a very loud tone. I think my father’s (Rishi Kapoor) tone, growing up, always rattled me. So she really made efforts to change that. And that’s not easy when you’ve lived 30 years of your life speaking in a certain way. She’s someone who instinctively reacts to say, if Raha falls down. There’s a reaction that throws me off. She makes certain things to put me at ease. I hope I could say there’s something I did to put her at ease, but I don’t think I’ve done it yet.”
