#BabyJohn: MASS-MASALA. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️½ Hardcore mass entertainer packaged with striking action pieces… Boasts of some solid, clapworthy moments, despite tried-and-tested formula… #VarunDhawan, in mass mode, in super form. #BabyJohnReview

Rating Score -> 2.5/5

The movie has its moments as an actioner, but in terms of content and narrative, it could have more impactful.

3. Times Now

Rating Score -> 2.5/5

Baby John is a good attempt at fan service. But, offers nothing fresh and exciting. It is high time to redefine mass actioners that come from South filmmakers.

4. Hindustan Times

Rating Score -> n/a

Overall, there’s nothing much that makes Baby John stand out apart from the action. It’s watchable if you can sit through the boring songs, and the atrocious first half hour. PS- Please stop wasting Salman Khan for a cameo in every other film. Kitni baar use karoge, Bhai?

5. Indian Express

Rating Score -> 1/5

Bloated and incoherent, Varun Dhawan film among the worst of 2024. The trouble with this Atlee production, a remake of Vijay’s 2016 hit Theri, with which Varun Dhawan gets his big fat South masala film, is that very little sticks.

6. India Today

Rating Score -> 3/5

The humble father soon returns as the stylish supercop and becomes society’s new saviour. Eventually, like in any Indian film, he also manages to beat the villain to a pulp. In Baby John, the hero and his five-year-old child also get to deliver sermons to the villain. And not to forget, the climax even has Satya fighting while riding a horse. Herogiri kayaam rehni chahiye

7. Mid-day

Rating Score -> n/a

Should you watch Baby John? Welll, there are no Christmas vibes here for sure. It isn’t very kid-friendly either. The long runtime is another bummer. If you have time and money to spare, and don’t mind an average actioner, go for it.

Rating Score -> 3/5

Baby John is no doubt engaging, but what the film lacks is crisp storytelling. All the performances are decent. But if you really love the smell of blood and the giggling of gun, this is indeed a film for you.

9. News 18

Rating Score -> 3/5

While Baby John boasts commendable performances, it falls short of being a compelling thriller due to its lackluster plot and uneven pacing.

Rating Score -> 3.5/5

The mass commercial actioner is directed by Kalees, who retains the Atlee flavour and adds his own style into the mix. It should lift off the Christmas curse from the Hindi film industry as the last few films released on this festive season failed to bring audiences to the theatres. Baby John is the perfect masala entertainer that the Bollywood needed to round off a rather disappointing year.
