It was a horrifying night for Saif Ali Khan and his family after the Cocktail (2012) actor suffered six stab wounds during an attempted robbery at his Bandra home in Mumbai. The incident occurred around 2:00 am when Khan, alerted by the presence of an intruder, confronted him. In the ensuing scuffle, Khan sustained six stab wounds. His actor wife Kareena Kapoor and other family members were present at the time of the attack. Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in Bandra West by his son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, around 3:30 am.
The family issued a statement saying, “There was an attempted burglary at Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s residence last night.
Saif sustained an injury on his arm for which he is undergoing a procedure in the hospital. The rest of the family is doing fine.
We request the media and fans to be patient and not speculate further, as the police are already conducting their investigations.”
According to a statement by the hospital’s COO, the actor was admitted between 3:00 and 3:30 am with six injuries, one of which was very close to his spine. The extent of the damage is not yet known. Niraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital, reportedly said, “Saif Ali Khan was brought to Lilavati around 3:30 am. He has six injuries, two of which are deeper. One of the injuries is close to his spine. He is being operated on by neurosurgeon Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Leena Jain, and anaesthetist Nisha Gandhi. We will determine the extent of the damage only after the surgery is complete.”
The police are investigating the matter, and the identity of the robbers is yet to be known. They are reviewing the CCTV footage.
