Kangana Ranaut, who previously stated that the #MeToo movement failed in Bollywood, saw #MeToo as a colossal failure. It did not affect the industry and also got the celebrity banned.
Kangana Ranaut recently stated that she got barred from working in the film industry for supporting the MeToo movement. Kangana told the women she backed had fled. In 2020, she spoke out in support of actor Payal Ghosh, who accused filmmaker Anurag Kashyap of sexual harassment.
Kangana, who is presently the anchor of Lock Upp, disclosed in a recent episode of the reality TV show when fashion designer and competitor Saisha Shinde said a leading designer asked her to her room and did the same with seven to eight other boys.
“I think the sexual exploitation of young people is so common, especially in the film industry, in the fashion industry. No matter how much we defend the industry, it’s the truth. While it gives many opportunities, it also shatters many dreams and leaves people permanently scarred. “Yeh kaala sach hai, (This is the dark truth).” Kangana enunciated after hearing Saisha’s experience.
Kangana added that while sexual exploitation occurs in many industries, she believes that people in the entertainment industry have a reign to point out the outfits and gossip about the victims, implying that it’s alright for it to happen to them. She continued, “Even when #MeToo happened here, what happened to that? Nothing. Wo ladkiyan jo bahar aayi thi, ab gayab hain, sabki sab gayab hain from the face of this planet. Aur jinko maine support kiya tha, I was banned from the industry, and ladkiyan gayab hain (The ladies who had come forward with accusations have all fled from the face of the earth. I got banned from the industry, and the women I supported just vanished).”
