Kantara has been one of the surprise packages from the Kannada film industry in 2022. Rishab Shetty has now announced the prequel of the movie. It has also completed 100 days at cinema halls. The movie will release in 2024. At an event, he thanked audiences which made it a blockbuster all over India. He said what people saw was Part 2 and Part 1 will be out in 2024. Rishab Shetty said he thought of a storyline for Part 2 when they were shooting for the movie. During the event, he thanked the Almighty Daiva for the successful completion of 100 days. The movie is based on folklore from the coastal region of Karnataka. The film’s symbolism was its high point. It dealt with folklore, forest conservation and the caste system which governs rural India.

He said the idea came to him as he was shooting for Kantara. Rishab Shetty said there is more history to the folklore. His team is now finding out more details about the legend. He was quoted as saying, “As the research is still progressing, it would be very early to reveal details about the film.” The actor had said that Kantara was unique to Karnataka as it is a tale of his homeland, which is the Tulu belt. The movie was loved for the manner in which it showed the culture of the area especially the Bhoota Kala performances. Kantara means a very mysterious forest.
Hombale Films boss Vijay Kiragandur said, “Rishab and our team have been working on the story rigorously as the film has many more things to tell to the audience while opening the back story of Kantara, and we can just guarantee that the sequel of Kantara is going to be more massive and grand than before.” Kantara was made on a budget of Rs 16 crores but raked in close to Rs 200 crores at the box office. It was a hit in Hindi belt too. The song Varaha Roopam was a great hit. It is one of the chart-topping songs on all music platforms in India.
