Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback film Pathaan continues to roar at the box office even after two weeks of its release. Among many aspects, it was Deepika Padukone’s saffron-colour bikini in the song ‘Besharam Rang’ that started a controversy. While post the release, the matter settled down, the makers of the song, Vishal Dadlani and Sheykhar Ravjiani, spoke about the making of the song and what kind of brief was given to them during a conversation with Bollywood Hungama.
EXCLUSIVE: Pathaan composers Vishal Dadlani and Sheykhar Ravjiani speak about brief of ‘Besharam Rang’; call Deepika Padukone starrer song “sensual”
It all happened when Sheykhar was recalling all the hit soundtracks the director-composers trio has given over the year, including War’s popular song, ‘Ghoongroo’. When asked if Siddharth asked them to create a song with the same feel as ‘Ghoongroo’, and if not, what was the brief given to them? Responding quickly to the same, Vishal asserted, “Actually, Nahi (no).”
He further added, “The brief of ‘Besharam Rang’ was it’s a female song. It is a sensual song. We didn’t know where it’s gonna be shot. Hum ko kya lena dena hai. Humko likhna hai, aap ghar mai shoot karo humko kya (We have nothing to do with the location of the song or the setup. Our job is to write and create it. You can shoot the song at home as well).”
As the conversation progressed further, Vishal stated that the duo made both songs, ‘Jhoome Jo Pathaan’ and ‘Besharam Rang’ in an atrium. Upon this, Sheykhar mentioned that there was a week-long phase when they were unable to crack the tracks. So they refused to go to the studio and instead, sat in a coffee shop.
