Balasaheb Thackeray, popularly known as Bal Thackeray, was the founder and chief of the Shiv Sena and was popularly known as Hindu Hriday Samraat. Today, January 23 marks the 97th birth anniversary of the late Indian politician. Among many others, Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor also remembered him and penned an emotional note for him.

Kapoor took to his verified Twitter handle and dropped a monochrome throwback picture featuring the actor and the politician. In the photo, the actor can be seen smiling while looking at Bal Thackeray. Meanwhile, the late politician is seen standing in front of the actor with folded hands at him. Another photo featured Balasaheb in a saffron outfit.

He further added, “He will call me and say, ‘Aare Anil! Tumhari nayi film lagi hai! Abhi tak dikhai nahi (Anil, your new film has been released. You haven’t shown me it yet)?’ Miss you #BalaSaheb!,” followed by folded hands emoji.

Coming to the professional front, he was last seen in Jug Jugg Jeeyo. The Raj Mehta directorial also featured Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, and Neetu Kapoor. Currently, he is making headlines for his upcoming project, The Night Manager.
Based on John Le Carre’s bestseller of the same name, the series is an official remake of the British series. Helmed by Sandeep Modi, it will also feature Aditya Roy Kapur and Sobhita Dhulipala in the lead. It will start streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from February 17 onwards.
