We all know that the censor board can be ruthless with its demands for cuts. Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ portrays the sensitive topic of female infanticide and even has scenes where the lead actor threatens to castrate himself. But the director has put everything in a very sensible and non-objectional manner, and as a result, the movie escaped the censor scissors.

The movie has received a U/A certificate and zero cuts from the censor board. It is also one of the shortest films to premier in recent times. The movie revolves around the life of a Gujarati couple, Jayeshbhai and Mudra Patel, who struggle to save their unborn baby girl’s life.

Directed by actor-turned-director Divyang Thakkar and produced by Aditya Chopra and Maneesh Sharma under Yash Raj Films, the movie stars Boman Irani, Ratna Pathak Shah, Deeksha Joshi, Shalini Pandey along with Ranveer Singh.

Meanwhile, before its release, the film is in legal trouble for the prenatal sex determination scene in the trailer. The scene depicts Shalini Pandy visiting a gynaecologist with her family. During the scene, Boman Irani- the head of the family, who wants Ranveer Singh to have a son, asks the doctor about the sex of the baby. Ranveer Singh also asks about the same, and the doctor uses the code for a female foetus.

The movie, all set for release on May 13th, had been challenged in the Delhi High Court by advocating Pawan Prakash Pathak over the prenatal sex determination scene, which is ‘statutorily prohibited’. The plaintiff hopes that scene is deleted on the grounds of promoting prohibited activities. On the other hand, the trailer has received a very positive response from the audience and has bought a new subject to the table for discussion.
