South Korean pop group BIGBANG’s Taeyang and Daesung have reportedly ended their contract with their longtime agency YG Entertainment.
BIGBANG’s Taeyang and Daesung end contract with YG Entertainment; Taeyang joins THEBLACKLABEL
According to the Korean tabloid Soompi, Taeyang has singed a contract with new agency called THEBLACKLABEL. “Artist Taeyang has joined THEBLACKLABEL,” the new agency announced in a statement.
“After working together as producer and artist for a long time, Producer Teddy and artist Taeyang are taking on a fresh start at THEBLACKLABEL, based on their musical trust in one another,” added the agency.
Meanwhile, YG Entertainment also clarified that the artist will continue to be a part of the pop band stating, “There is no change in the fact that Taeyang is a BIGBANG member and part of the YG Family. We know that many are waiting for BIGBANG’s activities, so we will work together for this.”
Additionally, the band’s other member Daesung is also parting ways with YG Entertainment after 16 long years. YG Entertainment announced the news stating, “Daesung has decided to end his contract with us. He’s looking for a fresh start.”
“The fact that Daesung is a BIGBANG member has not changed,” stated the agency. “We support Daesung’s choice and new start, and we are always open to cooperating with him.”
Amidst the news of Taeyang and Daesung’s departure from the agency, it was also reported that G-Dragon is currently discussing contract renewal with YG Entertainment. YG clarified, “We are still in the midst of contract negotiations.” Meanwhile, T.O.P left YG Entertainment following the expiration of his contract earlier this year.
