Cancelled Honeymoon For His Film’s Shoot

The ace filmmaker, Madhur Bhandarkar is simply the definition of how a small boy from a town makes a huge name worldwide with his constant dedication towards his dreams. The critically-acclaimed director is known for his stunning works in the Hindi-film industry and is also loved for his one after the other films. Some of his notable films include Chandni Bar (2001), Page 3 (2005), Traffic Signal (2007), Fashion (2008), and Heroine (2012).

Moreover, in his career spanning over 27 years, Madhur has also managed to win several accolades, including 5 National Film Awards for his films Chandni Bar (2001), Page 3 (2005), Traffic Signal (2007), the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2016, the PL Deshpande Award among others. In addition, he was also nominated as a member of the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. However, while everything about his professional life is out there, we hardly know anything about his personal life. Undoubtedly, the director-cum-producer tries to keep his personal life much away from the public eye.

Madhur Bhandarkar was born on August 26, 1966, in the Khar region of Mumbai, Maharashtra. Reportedly, the boy belonged to a middle-class family and was a school dropout. Afterwards, he started taking up various jobs and finally started working as a cassette delivery man. Thus, this became his first connection with the Hindi-film industry as he met many A-listers of that generation. He could also manage to get jobs as an assistant to many small-time filmmakers. Afterwards, he assisted Ram Gopal Verma and could become his associate director in the 1995 film, Rangeela. Since then, he never looked back and made his directorial debut with Trishakti, which was released in 1999. And as they say, the rest is history

And as the gossipmongers can’t keep quiet with doubting their popular icon’s rumoured relationships, the icon’s every public appearance never misses a chance to grab eyeballs. Similarly, Madhur’s growing closeness with the actresses- Tabu and Raveena Tandon in his respective films, Chandni Bar (2001) and Satta (2003), was also doubted. However, on December 15, 2003, dismissing all such rumours, Madhur tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend, Renu Namboodiri.

Madhur and Renu’s wedding was a low-key affair at Mumbai’s Khar Gymkhana with Ram Gopal Varma, Tabu and Raveena among the guests. For the unversed, Renu is four years younger than the director and is a renowned interior designer. And the couple was dating for almost about seven years before finally becoming each other’s forever.

Soon after their wedding, Madhur was asked about his wife, Renu’s opinion of the types of films he makes. To This, the filmmaker had remarked that his wife hates dark films and has advised him to make only entertaining films. Moreover, he was quoted as saying, “She found Chandni Bar dark and depressing.” However, as per reports, the director had then put off his honeymoon as he started shooting for his film, Page 3 (2005), soon after their wedding.

The madly-in-love couple, Madhur and Renu are proud parents of their princess, whom they have lovingly named Siddhi Bhandarkar. As per reports, the family of three lives in a plush pad in Yari Road, Andheri, northwest Mumbai. Madhur being an avid social media user, keeps sharing cutesy posts with his wife and daughter.

 


Talking about Madhur and his wife, Renu’s most challenging period, the duo has proved that nothing is bigger than pure love and trust. It was in July 2004, when a model named Preeti Jain had filed a case of rape against Madhur. Soon, the news spread like a forest fire that Madhur had allegedly promised her a lead role in exchange for sexual favours. However, amidst all, Madhur’s wife, Renu became his strongest support, and they had a personal victory on April 9, 2012, when the Supreme Court issued a notice against the model.

Since then, Madhur and Renu have been living a happy life with each other and are often spotted at various parties of the industry people.
