Finally, the last Bollywood release of 2022 is set to strike. The year’s first major release was Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi and now the last release is Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh’s Cirkus. The film is just the kind of festive entertainer that’s expected to light up screens before the close of year and given the kind of fun-n-frolic that it promises, it should happen as well.
Of course, the film is not alone. There is Avatar: The Way of Water which is doing blockbuster business and given the kind of hold that it has managed in the weekdays as well, it would prove to be quite mighty in the second week too. This means Cirkus would have major competition from the day of release as well, and it won’t be surprising if the collections are pretty much neck to neck from here. In fact it can be safely said that if not for the competition from its Hollywood counterpart, the film would have opened double of what it would this Friday.
As of now it seems like the film will open in Rs. 10-12 crores range. Of course the advance booking may be suggesting otherwise but then Rohit Shetty films have never been dependent on advance sales and it’s always the current booking that drives the audiences. The same should happen with Cirkus as well and with the festive season ahead, the celebrations should only intensify by the close of Friday and then bring on further momentum from Saturday onwards.
