Cirkus had a poor start to its box office campaign. The film failed to show any kind of respectable occupancy for day one and thus ended the day on a low note. The film can still recover ground if it shows a big growth on Day 2. Will that happen? We will have clarity on that by end of the second day.

Cirkus collected an extremely poor 6.5 crore nett approx on Friday. This is much below the expected level. Prior to its release trade expected it to do at least take a double-digit opening at the box office. In fact, many thought because of the festive time, the film should do a business of 15 crore nett. But all expectations went for a toss and the film under-performed big time.

Cirkus registered a low 18-20% occupancy for the opening day. This is disappointing stuff! The film has been penned badly by the critics and the audience’s word of mouth is also extremely mixed.

With a low Friday, the film needs a big upturn on Saturday. Ideally, Saturday growth should be 70-80% or even more. A general 40-50% growth will be of no use for Cirkus as collections will still remain at a low level. The normal trend suggests Cirkus First Weekend business is heading towards a poor 24-25 crore nett range. That means the film will collect 50% of what would have been a par score for the opening weekend.
