Business tycoon Adar Poonawalla has acquired a 50% stake in Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Dharmatic Entertainment. The production house announced in a statement that the deal was finalised at Rs. 1,000 crore.

Filmmaker Karan Johar has sold 50% stakes of his production house Dharma Productions to Adar Poonawalla’s Serene Productions at Rs. 1,000 crore, However, KJO will continue to lead the company’s creative vision as the Executive Chairman. As the Chief Executive Officer, Apoorva Mehta will collaborate with Karan to guide the strategic direction and ensure operational excellence.

In a statement, Poonawalla said that he was excited to partner with one of the most iconic production houses with his friend Karan Johar.

Adar Poonawalla is the son of business tycoon Cyrus Poonawalla and the CEO of Serum Institute of India, a pharmaceutical company that made the Covisheild vaccine during Covid-19. He has moved his business beyond pharmaceuticals by investing in Dharma Productions.
