Fast X director Louis Leterrier to helm Fast and the Furious 11

Fast and the Furious 11 has finally set its director ahead of the release of Fast X. The 11th installment of the long-running Fast and the Furious franchise will be directed by the Fast X director Louis Leterrier.

“Louis joined the ‘Fast & Furious’ team seamlessly, with an innate understanding of the franchise that is stronger than ever after two decades. Under his direction, ‘Fast X’ is a high intensity thriller with all the spectacular action, emotion, and twists that the fans have come to expect – and then some,” said Universal Pictures head Peter Cramer.

“We are thrilled that he will continue to work his magic in the director’s chair.” Leterrier replaced Justin Lin as director for Fast X last May due to creative differences though he remained attached as a producer. Lin has previously directed The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006), Fast & Furious (2009), Fast Five (2009), Fast & Furious 6 (2013), and F9 (2021).

In Fast X, Jason Momoa joins as the villain Dante, Brie Larson as Tess, and Rita Moreno as Dom’s grandmother. Along with Diesel, original franchise cast members Jordanna Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, and Sung Kang are returning, as well as later additions Jason Statham, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, Nathalie Emmanuel, Scott Eastwood, and John Cena.

Fast X arrives in theaters on May 19, 2023.
