1. India Today –
Rating Score -> 3/5
Freddy is dark and twisted. Watch it if you want to take a break from the candy floss version of Kartik Aaryan and see him attempt something different. You might not like Freddy, but you will still end up discussing it after the end credits.
2. Hindustan Times –
Rating Score -> n/a
The big reveal at the interval and the climax are undoubtedly the high points of the film and impress you. Freddy definitely makes for a bone-chilling watch with a story that unfolds just like its layered characters.
3. Financial Express –
Rating Score -> 4/5
From the screenplay and cinematography to the direction and acting, Freddy is a must-watch. Kartik Aaryan has once again given us an excellent performance, proving that he can play any character and cannot be stereotyped. Ayala F’s performance in Freddy is a treat to watch.
4. NDTV –
Rating Score -> 2/5
Kartik Aaryan’s Psychological Thriller Is A Downhill Ride. Kartik Aaryan strives to make the character work – his game efforts do not bear much fruit…Alaya, too, has to stretch herself to snapping point.
5. Indian Express –
Rating Score -> 2.5/5
Kartik Aaryan film is predictable with a stretched plot. Kartik Aaryan is getting better in roles where both he, and we, are required to take him seriously, and there are a couple of instances when he does give us the chills.
6. Times of India –
Rating Score -> 3/5
Freddy is fairly engaging and unsettling but it wavers to go all out. The film starts off well but doesn’t reach its full potential. It skims through issues of mental health, childhood trauma and its impact on an individual, something that deserved a deeper understanding. You can watch this for Kartik though and his successful brave attempt.
7. Rediff –
Rating Score -> 1/5
How traumatic childhood affects adult psychology and disrupts everyday life is enough to empathise without Bollywood making it an excuse for people to act nuts. That it sees the Parsi community purely through the prism of idiosyncrasy adds to the frustration.
8. Komal Nahta –
Rating Score -> n/a
On the whole, Freddy is a good OTT watch. It is nice that it has been premiered on a digital platform as its theatrical business would not have been much.
9. News 18 –
Rating Score -> 3.5/5
Freddy is worth watching. You’ll enjoy the curiosity that the film invokes. You will surely like Kartik Aaryan in an entirely new avatar. Alaya F is the cherry on the cake. By the end of the film, you might fear visiting a dentist ever again, but that’s the fun!
