Tanishk Bagchi has recreated the desi version with Tulsi Kumar joining KiDi. The Ghanaian artiste calls it a dream come true.

Calypso, Reggae, hip-hop music is popular globally. Indian entertainment space has seen Indian Origin British artiste Apache Indian bring his reggae music to India and the world. Senegalese-American singer Akon became the first African origin singer to croon a Hindi song – Chammak Challo in Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra. One [2011]. Now another African artiste is set to charm desi audiences.
Dennis Nana Dwamena, better known as KiDi, is set to headline a desi version of his popular Shut Up single that went viral on social media. The man from Ghana is aided by desi singer Tulsi Kumar and composer Tanishk Bagchi for the desi recreation. T-Series released a tiny teaser yesterday [6 December] where one was impressed by the Kerala setting.
A reggae, Calypso style being recreated in desi style is relatively unheard of. You gotta be KiDing. We asked Kidi what was his reaction when the proposal came in?
“Every kid in Ghana, where I come from, watched Hindi films on TV from 2 pm to 5 pm, every Sunday. I’ve watched the Indian culture on TV for a long time. When I heard about this [proposal], it was a dream come true. Mixing [the music] from where I come with the rich Indian culture, bringing them together, I’d like to thank everyone for it,” said KiDI.
Since he disclosed about following Indian culture, KiDi was asked about his Indian influences. The Ghanaian though didn’t reveal any names.
The teaser, that was launched last evening, revealed the song to be set in Kochi reflecting the local culture. The song is expected to be released in near future.
