Seasoned actor Ajay Devgn has turned 55 today (2 April). Wishes have naturally poured in from friends and family, but there’s one person who holds the actor, filmmaker in the highest regard. It’s none other than screenwriter Aamil Keeyan Khan, who owes his career to Devgn.

Khan has penned the screenplay for Ajay Devgn films like Runway 34 [2022], Drishyam 2 [2022], Bholaa [2023], and the hit Shaitaan [2024]. Devgn’s Maidaan [2024] is set to be released on Eid. Khan, hasn’t worked on that film, but he used the social media ‘maidan’ to pen a heartfelt note to his mentor.

Phool Aur Kaante [1991]

“Happy birthday to the OG of swagger on screen. I think that iconic image of you towering over two bikes at the same time as you enter into the frame could have very well been a declaration of the path you were going to take. Standing tall with your feet firmly planted in each genre. They said you wouldn’t work as a star. You gave them Phool aur Kaante [1991],” wrote Khan.

The writer praised Devgn for his memorable, versatile roles over the years in films like Hum Dil Chuke Sanam [1999], Golmaal franchise. In the millenium, Drishyam remains a stand out franchise in Devgn’s career.

“You hid all the flamboyance and stardom along with Sam’s dead body in Drishyam to play Vijay Salgaonkar. 2nd October has never been the same in India again,” gushed Khan.

The screenwriter strongly felt that 2024 will be the year of Ajay Devgn.

“This is your year. The Maidaan’s all yours to shine. May the Singham in you Raid and smash all the box office records. Aapko toh Shaitaan bhi dua mein yaad rakhta hai,” wished Khan.
