Compliments feel good. Being told we’re “pretty” can be cathartic, too. But is that all we are? Absolutely not!

Mango is back again with another empowering campaign that celebrates women’s unique capabilities and individualities. Everyone is pretty, we’re all beautiful but what are our uniquenesses that truly make us who we are? The #MoreThanPretty campaign explores those incredible qualities.

The campaign film has five trailblazing women, including Tahira Kashyap Khurrana, Shakti Mohan, Pooja Dhingra, Prajakta Koli and Priya Malik. They’re all courageous, driven, fierce, inspiring and more than anything, powerful.

In the film, dancer and choreographer Shakti Mohan talks about her initial frustration at how the world works against women. Yet, she sparks hope and leaves us with a desire to shine through all the challenges. Her poetic moves in a blue flowy maxi leave a lasting impression.

Priya Malik, an extraordinary storyteller whose poetry is music to the ears, opens up on her most loved subjects – love and relationships and social issues that resonate with her. Her refreshing take opens up your perspective and makes you look at things differently. Such is the power of women and a mic!

Prajakta Koli brings her usual perky self to this film and makes us want to sit up and take notes. “Never settle for average, it’s just so boring,” she urges everyone. The girl has embodied perseverance in her 8-year-long journey and shown us that we can achieve everything that we set our minds to.

The campaign film also features everyone’s favourite pastry chef, Pooja Dhingra, who started baking at the age of six. No job comes without challenges and as long as you believe in yourself, things do eventually fall in place. Truly, women can be excellent at just about anything, be it with dough or deal-making.

Writer, author and filmmaker Tahira Kashyap Khurrana throws light on the importance of having a women’s perspective in storytelling and films. Not only does that help challenge preconceived notions about what women are capable of but also about what their roles should be in society. After all, women are more than just an attractive prop supporting male heroes, right? Tahira’s Boss-woman-esque fit from Mango is riveting and a true reflection of her.

The five brilliant women in Mango’s film campaign are an apt representation of what women are really capable of. Despite all these incredible qualities, even today, women are often reduced to their physical appearance.

It’s time the world talks more about their skills, talents and contributions, and ensures that they have equal opportunities and recognition in all areas of life. Mango’s campaign film gives the world a fresh lens to look at women which acknowledges their virtues and uniqueness. After all, we’re #MoreThanPretty.
