Music director Tanishk Bagchi often cops criticism over remake/recreations. Not all are great, but he’s done few fine recreations too. Given the remake tag, it’s hard to get rid off it. Whenever he turns up for media promotions, he’s often asked about his penchant for remakes. The music composer gave a sneak peek of his next remake – which is a recreation of international track Shut Up by Ghanaian artiste Dennis Nana Dwamena, better known as Kidi.

Reminded about remakes and asked about his contribution to the original, Bagchi said, “These days when I get a song for recreation, I think whether I should do it or not. If it can be done, I definitely do it. It was always a dream to do an international collaboration. The original song is so good that it didn’t really require much. I just try to put al little bit of Indian touch to it.”

We were intrigued by the first part of the answer. During a brief photo-op with Bagchi, we asked the composer whether it was difficult to say to no his bosses who could demand a remake from him.

“Nowadays, I’ve started to take the calls.  If a remake isn’t possible, I don’t do it,” said Bagchi.

Shut Up desi recreation is crooned by Kidi with Tulsi Kumar crooning the Hindi lyrics. T-Series released a 5-second teaser today [6 December] with the song expected to be out soon.
