James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way Of Water has been enjoying tremendous success all around the globe. It would be safe to say that the filmmaker’s time and effort have paid great dividends as it reportedly took five years for him to make and complete the film after it was written and conceived for some more period.
James Cameron “mourns” the stories he couldn’t make because of the time he took for Avatar: The Way Of Water
In an interview with the portal Deadline, Cameron said that working on Avatar: The Way Of Water for so long also meant that he couldn’t make other films that came his way and he does feel bad about it. “The world of Avatar is so sprawling that I can tell most of the stories I want to tell within it and try many of the stylistic techniques that I hope to explore. And secondly, yes… our time as artists is finite. I will always mourn some of the stories that I don’t get to make,” he told the portal.
But, of course, he can’t deny the happiness he is getting from the kind of appreciation Avatar: The Way Of Water is receiving. He said he finds “great satisfaction when other directors want to explore some of my ideas, like Kathryn Bigelow did with Strange Days, and Robert Rodriguez did when I passed him the baton on Alita: Battle Angel. I look forward to more collaborations in the future with directors I admire.”
Avatar: The Way Of Water is the sequel to Cameron’s highly successful Avatar that released in 2009. As per the portal, Avatar 3 is already in post-production while a few parts of Avatar 4 are already shot.
