Jeremy Renner made his first appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! since the near-fatal accident where he talked about the horrific New Year’s Day snowplow accident that left him in critical condition.

The Marvel actor also received a standing ovation from the talk show audience as he made his way to the stage with the help of a cane. Kimmel added, “Now if there was any question as to who the toughest Avenger was, that’s settled now. Forget [Chris] Hemsworth, forget these guys, it’s you, you’re the guy.”
“Yeah, I guess so,” Renner replied. Kimmel then added, “I think I speak for all of us when I say, thank God, look at you, you look great. We’re glad to see you here.” The Marvel actor’s new interview comes after his exclusive interview with Diane Sawyer where he offered a detailed account of his accident.
Renner also joked on the show that he had a “very bad start to the year,” confirming that he broke “35 or so” bones after attempting to save his nephew from being run over by the large snow mobile. He then detailed how “lucky” he was to survive as the plow had “missed every vertebra, [it] didn’t hit any organs, my brain didn’t swell, nothing like that. My eye did pop out, that’s weird but yeah… I got very lucky that none of the organs got messed up.”
Earlier this year, while plowing snow, Renner suffered a critical accident resulting in “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries,” causing him to be airlifted to the hospital. He sustained over 30 bone fractures when a snowplow ran him over as he tried to save his nephew from being hit.
Speaking of Rennervations, the unscripted series follows Renner, who is passionate about construction and cars, as he renovates and rebuilds custom-tailored vehicles to help communities in need around the world with the help of some of his global friends! The series is set in four locations: Renner’s hometown of Reno; Chicago; Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; and Alwar, Rajasthan.
In each location, Renner and Millikin meet with organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, The BASE Chicago, Uva Jagriti Sansthan and Casa Hogar of Cabo San Lucas to learn about the needs of the local communities. They then use what they learned to “build something incredible that will have a big impact.”
