Shweta Tripathi Sharma is known for her grippingly refreshing performances. Whilst she has given us some cutting-edge characters like Golu from Mirzapur, Shallu from Masaan, Shweta is all set to explore comedy on screen for the first time with her next Kanjoos Makkhichoos.
Kanjoos Makkhichoos star Shweta Tripathi Sharma opens up on pay disparity in Bollywood, “Instead of an artist’s gender, the performance should be considered”
While promoting the film, Shweta spoke about pay parity in the film industry in terms of gender. She said, “Being a good Kanjoos in certain situations is great but we shouldn’t be Kanjoos Makkhichoos when it comes to payments of an actor that depends on skill, experience, effort and hard work. Instead of an artist’s gender, their performance should be considered while deciding the pay. I feel talent is talent irrespective of one’s gender. The requirement of the role, the number of days an artist has to invest in a project, these factors should be taken as a parameter while deciding the pay for any artist or any person in all fields for that matter.”
The actress added, “I believe when you take a stand for yourself, you pioneer a wave of change and encourage people to stand up for themselves as well. Yeh saare Kanjoos Makkhichoos logo ko highlight karna zaroori hai.”
The trailer of the film has garnered rave responses. The film also brings the fresh pairing of Kunal Kemmu along with Shweta for the first time and the audiences are all hearts seeing their on-screen chemistry! Kanjoos Makhichoos is now streaming on ZEE5 on March 24, 2023. The film also stars Piyush Mishra, Alka Amin, Rajiv Gupta and the late Raju Srivastava in pivotal roles.
