South Korean actor Yoo Ah In has officially been dropped from Netflix’s Hellbound Season 2 amid his ongoing drug scandal.
Kim Sung Chul replaces Yoo Ah In in Hellbound 2; Kim Hyun Joo, Kim Shin Rok & more confirmed
The actor has been replaced by Kim Sung Chul to portray the first chairman of the New Truth Society Jung Jin Su. Kim Sung Chul’s agency Story J Company confirmed the actor’s casting by sharing, “It is true that Kim Sung Chul will star in ‘Hellbound 2.’”
As the Korean tabloid Soompi notes, based on a popular webtoon of the same name, Season 1 of Hellbound was set in a world where humans faced a frightening supernatural phenomenon: emissaries from hell appeared on Earth without warning and condemned people to hell.
Hellbound 2 will follow the resurrection of Park Jung Ja (Kim Shin Rok) and Jung Jin Su who were subjected to public demonstration in Season 1. Meanwhile, Kim Hyun Joo, Kim Shin Rok, Lee Dong Hee, Yang Ik Joon, and more are set to reprise their roles in Season 2. Moon Geun Young will also make a special cameo appearance as an “arrowhead leader who leads the supporters of the New Truth Society.”
Speaking of Yoo Ah In, the actor is currently under investigation for habitual use of substances including propofol, marijuana, cocaine, and ketamine. Police began investigating against him last month and also performed a search and seizure of various doctor’s offices and clinics that were suspected of having illegally administered the drug to Yoo Ah In since 2021.
Meanwhile, Hellbound 2 will commence filming this summer.
