If you are someone who is an avid social media user, you must’ve come across the viral hit “Bombay Girls, Local Trains‘ on Youtube.

Ankita Shrivastav, aka @FilmyChokri is known for her acting skills and stand-up comedy. Not just that, her relatable videos have gained a lot of popularity in recent times.

One of the examples being this video which has 51 million views on Instagram, Isn’t it amazing?

With close to 15 million views on her YouTube channel and over 404k followers on Instagram, she’s a force to be reckoned with.

From big roles in films like ‘Sarabjit’ alongside Randeep Hooda and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to being cast in Amazon Prime Videos LOL: Hasse Toh Phasse alongside India’s best comics, Ankita’s story is nothing short of inspirational.

An actor, standup comedian, and now a host, is there anything that she can’t do?

I got a chance to talk to this leading lady of comedy and here are her two cents on life, standup and success.

Her Journey

As a massive fan of her standups and acting, I always wanted to know why she goes by the name @FilmyChokri. So when I got the opportunity to chat with her, this was my very first question.

The reason why you go by the name @FilmyChokri? She answered that her ultimate goal was to star in movies, and her Youtube channel is also named the same. She used it to create audition videos and send them to casting directors across the industry to get a role.

So when she uploaded her very first video, “Bombay Girls Local Train,” it went viral, and she decided to keep the name.

When I asked her about her iconic line, “Ladki, his attention bilkul pasand nahi hai,” and how she is dealing with a lot of attention these days, she answered that she loves it and that “I think all artists love the attention. That’s what we’re working for; by attention, you mean social media numbers and likes and comments. So these days, it’s easier to get the attention it’s measurable. The more the attention, the better the feeling.”

Her Success

While talking about work and her working with celebrities, I got a chance to ask her about her new collaboration with MensXP called “Tell Me Something With Ankita,”

‘Tell Me Something’ is a chat show where she interviews celebrities and content creators and focuses on their lives and who they are as a person both professionally and personally.

When I asked her about her experience working with different people, she said “that it was wonderful. We all thought (the show) would be a half an hour or 45 minutes conversation, but once we came on sets, we had conversations that lasted for over 6 hours ”

She adds that it was great working with such accomplished people, and it felt like being friends for a day!

I also got a chance to ask her about her recent interview with Sunny Hinduja & Sharib Hashmi on MensXP. You can watch the full interview here:

She mentioned that she is a huge Sharib Hashmi fan, and it goes back years when she saw his film at the MAMI Film Festival.

She says, “Anything that Sharib has achieved in life; it’s like you have achieved it; it feels personal.”

Sunny and Ankita’s friendship goes back to when they used to work on a show called Devlok by Devdutt Pattanaik, where they played Ram and Sita. When asked about Sunny’s equation, she says, “It feels so good to see him do so well in life because all of them had a difficult journey.”

She further adds “that this episode with these two was very personal to me.”

Lastly, I asked her where she finds her inspiration and if she has any words of wisdom for someone struggling to make it big in the industry.

Life gives you enough troubles to find inspiration; living one day through happiness and troubles is enough to give your inspiration,” she said.“The rule is simple, be consistent, and whatever content it is, put it out for the world to see,”  she adds.

On the work front, she is working on a new show. Can’t wait to know what it is? Stay tuned to know more!
