NCT’s Yuta to star in new Japanese drama adaptation Play It Cool, Guys
According to the Korean tabloid Soompi, based on a popular Japanese animation, Play It Cool, Guys is a drama about four men who are entangled with each other through fateful encounters.
Yuta is on board to star as handsome college student Ichikura Hayate. He feels discontented with himself as he lacks vibrancy and keeps making silly errors repeatedly.
The outlet further describes that it’s a character with “wacky and unpredictable charm who pretends to be cool on the outside after making a ridiculous mistake but is feeling deeply shy on the inside.”
Yuta made his acting debut through the 2022 Japanese film HiGH&LOW THE WORST X. Speaking of the band, its agency SM Entertainment previously announced that NCT won’t go forward with its “infinite” expansion. The announcement came in a video about its new ‘SM 3.0’ strategy.
“With the debut of NCT Tokyo (tentative name) in 2023, NCT’s infinite expansion is scheduled to end,” the agency shared. “We are officially announcing that there will be no more member changes, and we will support the existing members as much as possible so they can engage in much more diverse activities.”
The agency had initially planned to expand the band “infinitely”, with new members and sub-units. The move came in with expectations to target different territories and demographics. However, SM has since shared that the upcoming Japan-based NCT Tokyo’s debut will be the final NCT sub-unit to be added.
