In India, there is a set notion regarding body types, and the plus-size ones face many problems when finding a perfect Indian outfit. There are many readymade options for an ordinary girl, ranging from co-ord sets to shararas, ghararas, and whatnot. However, plus-size brides are immediately sent to the unstitched suits and outfits section. They don’t have the option even to try out the pretty ensembles. They go through a similar situation even at famous designer stores, as they have fewer to zero options for them.
However, things get worse when plus-size brides need to shop for their wedding day. There aren’t many styles they can choose from. A similar situation was faced by the bride of the week. Luckily, she found her dream lehenga on a reality show, Say Yes To The Dress India, hosted by Divyak D’souza. The gorgeous Aakanksha Magan found her dream lehenga on the show.

The plus-size bride wore a rani pink lehenga for the wedding
The bride, Aakanksha Magan, was featured on the reality show, Say Yes To The Dress India, wherein the host, Divyak D’souza helped her find the perfect outfit. During the show, Aakanksha expressed the heartbreaking moment whenever she entered a boutique for an ethnic outfit; they would send her to the unstitched section. And she didn’t want to go through the same for her shaadi shopping.
The bride briefed the host that she wanted to wear a rani pink lehenga with a touch of Punjabi embroidery. So, Divyak took her to a place wherein she could try outfits. She found her dream ensemble from the designer, Heena Kochhar. The outfit featured a rani pink lehenga with heavy gotta work, a round neck long choli with quarter sleeves, and double dupattas.
Bride styled her lehenga with her father’s choice of jewellery
For the wedding day, the bride picked jewellery that her late father had made for her fifteen years ago. Her wedding look was accentuated with a gold choker neckpiece, long haar, a maang teeka, matching earrings and red chooda. She kept her wedding day makeup subtle with soft eyes, pink lips and highlighted cheeks.
We loved how Aakanksha donned the pretty lehenga and flaunted her curves. She proved that size is just a number and that every bride should be given equal clothing options, and they can create magic with their looks.
