Andaz Apna Apna is a cult classic that has stood the test of time despite being a commercial failure upon its initial release in 1994. The film, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, stars Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Shakti Kapoor, and Paresh Rawal in prominent roles. Despite having a star-studded cast and lots of humour, Andaz Apna Apna failed to perform well at the box office during its release.

However, over the years, the film has garnered a loyal fan following and has become a beloved classic. Recently, Rajkumar Santoshi spoke about its poor performance while sharing his thoughts on the remake of the Salman-Aamir starrer.

In an interview with Aaj Tak, the renowned filmmaker asserted, “While Andaz Apna Apna was a completely different story in those days. It has more comedy, adventure, and humour than romance. People took the time to understand this film. When the film was released 29 years ago, the distributors were also newcomers.”

According to Rajkumar, neither Salman nor Aamir were present in the city to promote the movie, and he was also occupied with a shooting schedule in another location. He recalled, “There was no activity related to the film. There was no interaction with the media either. Whatever was to be done for the publicity of the film, that too could not be done. The distributors were also very angry.”

As the conversation progressed further, Rajkumar was asked if there are any possibilities of its remake. In response, he said, “There is no scope to do anything in its remake. The film looks fresh even today. Whoever tries to make a remake of this evergreen film will drown because it is not possible to make such a film.”
