Raju Srivastava’s Daughter, Antara On How She Thought Her Father’s Heart Attack News Was A Rumour

Popular comedian, Raju Srivastava left for the heavenly abode on September 21, 2022, leaving the entire nation shocked. The comedian was 58 years old when he took his last breath after suffering from a cardiac arrest. For the unversed, Raju Srivastava was known for his excellent comic timing. He rose to fame after his stint on the stand-up comedy show, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge season 1, in 2005. Now, his daughter, Antara talked about her father and recalled the last time, she spoke with him.

In an interview with ETimes, late Raju Srivastava’s daughter, Antara opened up about her father’s sudden demise. Talking about the same, she revealed that when she got the news that her father suffered a heart attack, she actually thought that it was her uncle, Kaju, who had expired since he was admitted to AIIMS. She even mentioned how she thought that the news of her father’s heart attack was a rumour. In her words:

“I thought that my chachu had suffered a heart attack on August 10, 2022, when my mom called me with this information. I felt there was a mix-up. My chachu’s name is Kaju and in fact, he was very much admitted to AIIMS in Delhi when my father met with a heart attack. In fact, my dad had also made quite a few of his stay arrangements. In fact, my chachu was slated to get operated on the same day. And, my dad had been shuttling in and out of the hospital, attending to him and I thought the news of my father’s heart attack was a rumour.”

Further, in the same interview, Antara also opened up about her last conversation with her late father, Raju Srivastava. Talking about the same, she revealed that it was on her birthday when she, along with her father and the whole family, had sat together and enjoyed a great evening. She also revealed that after her birthday celebration, Raju even shot for the Laughter Champion. Talking about her last moments with her father, Antara said:

“Life never tells you that this is going to be the last time. He was out of town for the last 10 days. A day after my birthday, he had shot for ‘Laughter Champion’. We celebrated my birthday and he shared the kind of jokes he’d cracked there. A few days after that, he left for outstation. He often went for tours.”

In the same conversation, Antara even talked about her father, Raju Srivastava’s gym routine. She mentioned that Raju was a gym person, and he was very particular about his workout sessions. Reflecting on whether doing excessive exercise was the reason for his demise, Antara said that whatever happened to him was incidental and gym should not be blamed for it. She even revealed that Raju had reduced his gymming hours after his heart condition deteriorated. In her words:

“He would try and stick to his gym routine come what may. He was very conscious about his physical fitness. He would go to the gym at least every alternate day. Whatever happened to him, it was just incidental that it happened while he was gymming. He had a health condition. We shouldn’t blame the gym.”

For the uninitiated, Raju Srivastava passed away due to a cardiac arrest, and left for his heavenly abode on September 21, 2022. He was admitted to AIIMS Delhi after he had got his first cardiac arrest in August 2022. His final rites were performed on September 22, 2022, by his son, Ayushman Srivastava at Nigam Bodh Ghat.
