Actor Raveena Tandon courted controversy in the early hours of Sunday (2 June) after a road rage video went viral.
In the video, Tandon can be seen pleading with people to stop recording and not hit her. Later, a young woman is seen on camera claiming that her nose is bleeding and insisting that Tandon should spend the night in jail. Shortly after, an unseen man is heard in the background calling for people to hit Tandon.
A man named Mohammed, a resident of Bandra, is also heard in the video. He claims that his mother, sister, and niece were returning from a personal visit and crossing by Rizvi College, near Tandon’s residence, when Tandon’s driver ran over his mother. When confronted by the woman and her companions, the driver allegedly assaulted his mother and niece. Mohammed further alleges that an inebriated Tandon arrived on the scene and hit his mother and niece. He added that the family had been at Khar police station for four hours, but the police refused to lodge any complaint.
The video was shot and uploaded by freelance journalist Mohsin Shaikh on social media.
