The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan has brought respite to the Bollywood film industry. A lot was expected from the film as it generated tremendous hype. Yet, trade and industry were left surprised when it took an earth-shattering opening. Even after the extended weekend got over, it continued to attract viewers in hordes. In 15 days, it has collected Rs. 452.95 crores and has a chance to cross the Rs. 500 crores mark. Needless to say, it is already the biggest Hindi original grosser of all time.

Bollywood Hungama has now chanced upon exclusive data about the performance of Pathaan in the IMAX theatres. As expected, the film has set records even on this front. As per the data made available exclusively to Bollywood Hungama by IMAX, Pathaan was released on 144 IMAX screens globally in 21 markets. This makes Pathaan the widest Indian release ever on IMAX.
In a report in The Economic Times on January 28, IMAX CEO Richard Gelfond revealed that “Pathaan delivered the biggest opening day ever for an Indian film in IMAX”. It has now come to light that Pathaan also had the number 1 IMAX opening weekend of all time in India. This means that Pathaan beat films like Avatar: The Way Of Water (2022), KGF – Chapter 2 (2022), RRR (2022), Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion (2017) etc.
Thirdly, Pathaan is now the seventh highest-grossing IMAX film of all time in India. It is also the second highest-grossing Indian film in IMAX, after RRR.
Lastly, Pathaan is the biggest YRF (Yash Raj Films) grosser in IMAX, beating the earlier films of the esteemed production house which released in this format like Dhoom 3 (2013), Thugs Of Hindostan (2018) and Shamshera (2022).
Besides Shah Rukh Khan, Pathaan also starred Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. Directed by Siddharth Anand, it belongs to the YRF Spy Universe and featured Salman Khan in a dynamic appearance, reprising his role as Tiger.
