Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore returned to the world of cinema after a hiatus of nearly thirteen years with Disney Hotstar’s latest release Gulmohar. While the film is receiving rave reviews from moviegoers as well as critics, Tagore recently appeared in one of the latest episodes of The Kapil Sharma Show. Besides talking about Gulmohar, Tagore also briefly talked about working with the late legendary actor Shammi Kapoor. During the candid conversation, she revealed that Shammi jumped unannounced from a helicopter in An Evening In Paris song ‘Aasmaan Se Aaya Farishta’.

For the unversed, the actress recalled a couple of instances when Shammi Kapoor did things which were never in the script, and that too during the final shot. It all started when she asserted, “It was very difficult to work with Shammi Kapoor and I was a newcomer. He would do something in the rehearsal and something else in the actual take. Kabhi yahan se aa jaate the, kabhi vahan se, kabhi uppar se aa jaate the (He would sometimes come from here, sometimes from there).”
As she continued, Sharmila further recalled, “In An Evening In Paris, in the song ‘Aasmaan Se Aaya Farishta’, he was hanging from the helicopter. I was water skiing. He was on the edge of the helicopter, showing off his thighs, very sexy…it was also difficult for the person who was flying the helicopter. In the middle of the shot, without any instructions, suddenly he jumped on the boat. That was not in the script. Shammi ji was like that.”
Sharmila and Shammi collaborated on a bunch of films including Ek Se Bhale Do and Naseeb, besides the above-mentioned films. Coming back to Gulmohar, along with Sharmila, the slice-of-life flick also features Manoj Bajpayee and Amol Palekar, among others. It was released on the streaming giant on March 3 this year.
