Be it actors, directors or singers, all Bollywood celebs enjoy a massive fan following. There are times when fans have won the heart of their favourite star. However, as every side has two coins, so do fans. There are always two types of fans; one, who knows there is a limit, and second, who think being a public figure, it’s the star’s duty to fulfil their fans’ wishes. Unfortunately, singer Sonu Nigam had to deal with the latter recently. During his recent concert in Mumbai’s Chembur, the singer was attacked by a fan over not posing for a selfie. A day after the incident, the Indian Singers’ Rights Association also reacted.

In an official statement, the association asserted, “We are deeply aggrieved to know about the serious attack on our legendary singer Sonu Nigam and his team at a musical event in Chembur yesterday night. It is a matter of shame that an idolised artist was manhandled. All singers of the country are in shock and are concerned about this incident.”

The statement further read, “We, therefore, request the Govt of Maharashtra and law enforcement agencies to take serious note about this to try to ensure that such incidents are not repeated with any Singers/Artists whatsoever.”

For the unversed, Sonu Nigam after his concert was getting down from the stage. Amid that, a man held him and tried to click a selfie forcefully. Reportedly, the accused is identified as Swapnil Phaterpekar, who allegedly is the son of a local MLA.
