South Korean actors Seol In Ah and Shin Eun Soo along with Choi Hyun Wook and Ryeo Woon are all currently in talks to star in in new coming-of-age drama Sparkling Watermelon (literal title).
Sparkling Watermelon: Seol In Ah, Shin Eun Soo, Choi Hyun Wook and Ryeo Woon in talks to star in the coming-of-age drama
According to Korean tabloid Soompi, Sparkling Watermelon is a coming-of-age drama in which a coda (child of deaf adult) model student boy befriends the younger version of his father and falls in love with a mysterious girl after he accidentally time travels through a suspicious musical instrument store.
In response to actress Seol In Ah’s casting as the female lead in the upcoming drama, her agency stated, “[Seol In Ah] is positively reviewing the offer.” Meanwhile, Choi Hyun Wook and Ryeo Woon were already revealed to be in talks for the drama as well.
Representatives from the agencies of both the actors reveald last yearthat they were considering their offers with Ryeo Woon’s agency adding, “Ryeo Woon has been offered a lead role and is currently reviewing [the offer].” Additionally, Shin Eun Soo is also reported to join the cast though her agency is yet to confirm the news.
Sparkling Watermelon will be helmed by director Son Jung Hyun who previously worked on Should We Kiss First? and Mental Coach Jegal. The script comes from Jin Soo Wan whose credits include Kill Me Heal Me and The Moon Embracing the Sun.
Sparkling Watermelon is slated to premiere in 2023.
