A week ago, RRR witnessed a super win at the Golden Globes 2023 in Los Angeles where the film won the award for Best Song for ‘Naatu Naatu’. SS Rajamouli, Jr. NTR and Ram Charan along with music composer MM Keeravani were in attendance for the awards night. Following the win, the filmmaker spoke about varied topics including RRR‘s massive success in the West and whether he wants to explore a movie opportunity in Hollywood.
SS Rajamouli on making a Hollywood movie, “I’m open to experimentation”
“I don’t have words to explain the kind of exhilaration that we are having,” Rajamouli told EW’s Awardist podcast. “It’s why I make films — to extract that kind of joy, to give that kind of joy to an audience.”
“I think it is the dream of every filmmaker across the world to make a film in Hollywood,” he said. “I am no different. I’m open to experimentation.”
“Back in India, I am the dictator. No one tells me how to make a film.” Modestly, he speculates that a Hollywood project might be an opportunity for a co-credit. “Very probably, my first step will be collaborating with someone,” he told Entertainment Weekly.
Ram Charan, Jr NTR and Rajamouli are in LA promoting RRR as ‘Naatu Naatu’ has been shortlisted for Best Original Song at Oscars 2023.
