Max (previously HBO Max) has officially unveiled the first footage from much anticipated series The Penguin, which is currently in production. Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman spinoff show will run for eight episodes.

As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Discovery revealed a first look at the forthcoming The Penguin series as a part of a press conference unveiling the rebranding of the studio’s streaming service from “HBO Max” to “Max.” HBO executive Casey Bloys played a clip from the series previewing the Penguin’s attempt to become Gotham’s new kingpin.
“This is one of those moments where you gotta ask yourself what kinda life do you want?” Farrell’s Cobblepot says in the new in-production teaser. “This world ain’t built for guys like us. That’s why we gotta take what’s ours.” In addition to Colin Farrell, the spin-off series will also star Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone, daughter of Carmine Falcone.
Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Deirdre O’Connell, with recurring roles for Clancy Brown and Michael Zegen also star in pivotal roles. Reeves, who is also a producer on The Penguin, teased the outlet last year that the series will be on similar lines of Scarface, “The rise of this character who we all know will achieve mythic status. He is underestimated and he’s like a time bomb.”
Meanwhile, no release date has been set for The Penguin. The series will premiere in 2024. Watch the new teaser below!
