The yellow jacketed killer in the trailer for Aditya Roy Kapur and Mrunal Thakur-starrer Gumraah is reminding us of Ek Villain. An official remake of 2019 Tamil original, Thadam, this Vardhan Ketkar-directorial stars Kapur in a double role with Mrunal playing the quintessential badass cop.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios, Gumraah comes in quick succession after Aditya’s superlative performance in The Night Manager. Surely, the gritty, whodunnit murder mystery genre has emerged as his favourite. We take a closer look at the newly launched trailer.

Packed with several hard-hitting dialogues, Kapur’s unmissable dimpled smile and lots of general badassery, Gumraah promises to be that edge-of-your-seat drama that has audiences marching into theatres. The gruesome murder captured through close range shots and the overall sepia tonality promise a thrilling one-time watch.

At the centre of the plot are two identical suspects, both of whom are completely unaware of each other’s existence. With the onset of the investigation, it is revealed that this duo are world’s apart in their lifestyles. The trailer concludes with the looming question: who did it? The film also stars Ronit Roy as the lead investigative officer.
