Given the hype and the ticket prices, producers 20th Century Fox may have expected more numbers in India. The film was tipped to beat Avengers: Endgame’s [2019] single day record [Rs53 crore nett] but Avatar: The Way of Water has fallen little short. Endgame had made Rs157 crore nett in its opening weekend.
Avatar: The Way of Water has released in across 3800 screens in India in [original] English and dubbed languages. Made at an estimated budget of Rs3200 crore, the film has reportedly grossed over Rs. 3600 crore worldwide. The American film is the sequel to the 2009 film.
