Zachary Levi backs report that Dwayne Johnson blocked Levi’s Shazam cameo in Black Adam

While Zachary Levi’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods is off to rough reception, Levi is firing shots at Dwayne Johnson after a report circulated about the Black Adam actor blocking Levi’s Shazam cameo in his DC anti-hero film.

According to Hype Beast, Black Adam was originally set to feature a post-credits cameo from Shazam played by Zachary Levi but Johnson is said to have blocked the scene. Additionally, Johnson also allegedly blocked all Black Adam actors from appearing in Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

On March 22, Levi shared an Instagram story reposting a piece from The Wrap which alleged that, “SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS, the Justice Society from BLACK ADAM were recruiting Shazam in the post credits.” The outlet further claimed that “The Rock denied access and David F. Sandberg had to make a last-minute decision to add Emilia and John.”

“Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson attempted to restructure the DCEU centering him and Henry Cavill’s Superman,” the piece further read, “The Rock didn’t allow Zachary Levi to cameo in a post credit for BLACK ADAM. Reposting the piece on his story, Levi captioned, “The truth will set you free.”

As the reports suggest, Johnson pushed for Henry Cavill’s Superman instead for cameo in post-credits scene. As IGN India report shares, Johnson also confirmed that he wouldn’t be returning as Black Adam in Gunn and Safran’s DCU, despite the movie being a long-running passion project for him.

Meanwhile, Levi also suggested that Shazam! Fury of the Gods poor performance is because of Warner Bros’ marketing campaign. In a reply to a tweet from a fan, he said that the film is “a perfect family movie, and yet a lot of families aren’t aware of that.”
