The primary agenda of Cine & TV Artistes’ Association’s Emergency Meeting on Valentine’s Day is to discuss about the Rs6 crore given by CINTAA to CAWT for procurement of Occupancy Certificate and completion of CINTAA Tower.

After being told to resign from all positions at Cine & TV Artistes’ Assocation, and Cine Artistes Welfare Trust over the serious personal conflict with a Kolkata based journalist, actor Darshan Jariwala’s role as the General Secretary of CAWT has come under scanner.

Earlier CINTAA General Secretary Amit Behl had dismissed the rumours of Jariwala also being probed for an alleged financial fraud, a matter that would be discussed in the upcoming meeting on 14 February. Behl called it a routine monthly meeting whereby the primary agenda would be how to raise funds for CINTAA, CAWT.

Beyond Bollywood though has reliably learnt that it is not a routine Executive Committee meet, but an Extra Ordinary General or Emergency Meeting that has two items listed on its Agenda.

1. To discuss transfer of funds from CINTAA to CAWT for procurement of Occupancy Certificate and completion of CINTAA Tower.

2. To conduct CINTAA Executive Committee Elections through EVM only on the same day as Annual General Body Meeting (AGM), with a view to try and eliminate any unfair practices related to E-Voting.

Amit Behl had categorically ruled out murmurs of any financial fraud committed by Jariwala during the latter’s tenure as CAWT General Secretary. There though is suspicion about probable misinformation by Jariwala. We’ve got some inside dope on the it, but deemed it wise to wait for the outcome of the EGM.

The swank CINTAA Tower was inaugurated in October last year.

At an EGM held on 26 January, 2016, CINTAA had passed a resolution to give Rs6 crore to CAWT for the procurement of Occupancy Certificate and completion of CINTAA Tower. Out of this Rs6 crore, Rs3.35 crore were specifically designated for the purchase of Unit no.218, 219, 220, Kartik Complex, New Link Road, Andheri West, from CAWT.

CAWT comes under the Charity Commissioner. At the 58th AGM held on 1 May, 2017 former CINTAA General Secretary Sushant Singh had stated that Charity Commissioner had informed them that CINTAA cannot grant any loan as they are not a financial institution. This money was given to CAWT under certain terms and conditions. Jariwala’s role as CAWT Secretary and certain conduct over this matter has come under scrutiny. All these matters will be discussed between CINTAA and CAWT in the upcoming EGM on 14 February.

Meanwhile as for the serious charges levied against Jariwala by the Kolkata-based journalist, it was buzzed that CINTAA was initally reluctant to act against the Bad Boy (2023) actor, but once the woman shared details of her personal conversation with Jariwala on social media, CINTAA decided to take cognizance of it. Some of these personal conversations shared by the victim allegedly contained derogatory remarks by Jariwala against key CINTAA members like Amit Behl, Priti Sapru, Manoj Joshi.

Jariwala’s personal conflict with the journalist isn’t part of the Agenda, but EC will have to answer if any member raises a query about it.

The journalist has accused Jariwala of cohabitation under the promise of marriage, but later walking out of the relationship once she got pregnant. She has filed an FIR under Section 376 (Rape), 377 (Carmal intercourse) and Section 417 (Cheating).
