The controversial film, The Kerala Story has taken a bumper start at the box office in India as early estimates indicate a day in the range of Rs. 7.50 to 8.50 crores. The opening has surpassed all expectations as the film is eventually led by Adah Sharma, who has no track record of doing well at the box office.
The three national chains – PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis – have collected in the range of Rs. 4 crores, with the remaining non-national chains adding another Rs. 4 crores to the total. The final figures could even be higher as more shows for The Kerala Story are being added by certain multiplex properties. In-fact, mid-night shows have been added across the country for The Kerala Story across certain locations.
These are blockbuster numbers as the pre-release expectations were NIL. In-fact, none expected The Kerala Story to even score Rs. 8 crores in its lifetime run, but the film here has done it in a single day topping Shehzada and several big-budget releases of the post-pandemic world.
